CRICINFO - PRIVACY NOTICE

Jiostar India Private Limited (formerly known as Star India Private Limited), with its registered office at Star House, Urmi Estate, 95 Ganpatrao Kadam Marg, Lower Parel (West), Mumbai 400013, India ("we", "us", "our", "Jiostar") is the owner, operator, manager of the Cricinfo website and platform ("Platform", which includes all the features available on the Platform).

Jiostar values the trust placed by visitors and users of the Platform ("you", "your", "user"). This Privacy Notice ("Notice") describes our policies and procedures for handling your Personal Information.

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE

This Notice explains how we collect, use, process, and protect Personal Information of the users visiting or using our Platform.

Where we refer to "Personal Information" we mean any information related to a particular individual who we identify (whether directly or indirectly) through such information.

Please note that unless specifically defined in this Notice, capitalised terms shall have the same meaning ascribed to them in our Terms of Use, available at Terms of Use ("Terms"). Please read this Notice in consonance with the Terms.

The Platform may contain services provided by or links to and from the websites of our partner networks, service providers, financial institutions, advertisers and other third parties ("Third Party Services"). Please note that the Third Party Services that may be accessible in connection with the Platform are governed by their own privacy policies. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of Third Party Services or for any Personal Information that may be collected through such Third Party Services.

COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • We collect, use, store, transfer, or otherwise process Personal Information about you to provide our services and content on the Platform. Such Personal Information may include:

  • Identity Information: This includes information such as your first and last name, email address, date of birth, location, pincode, country of residence, audio and video recordings.

  • Contact Information: This includes information such as your phone number, email address, and social media profile and related information.

  • Usage Information: Information about how you interact with the Platform and its interface, including search terms, language preferences, content preferences, service requests, and game play data during game play events on the Platform.

  • Marketing and Communications: This may include your preferences in receiving marketing messages, advertising content from us and our third parties, advertising related identifiers, your communication preferences, responses to any surveys or feedback that you submit.

  • Technical Information: Data such as internet protocol address, browser type and versions, time zone settings, operating systems, and device information.

  • Financial Information: This includes data such as your payment information, bank account details, UPI ID and, primary VPA (virtual payment address), and bank account statements.

HOW WE COLLECT PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • We use different methods, as permitted under applicable laws, to collect and process Personal Information about you. This includes:

  • Information you provide to us: This is the information you choose to provide when you use the Platform or when you correspond with us (for example, by email or chat, or through the Platform). It includes information you provide when you register to use the Platform, use a feature of the Platform, share data through the Platform, or report a problem with the Platform. If you contact us, we will keep a record of the information shared during the correspondence.

  • Information we collect about you and your device: Each time you access the Platform, we will automatically collect Personal Information including device and usage information. We collect this information using cookies in accordance with our Cookie Policy available here: Cookie Policy

  • Information we receive from other sources including third parties and publicly available sources: We may receive Personal Information about you from various third parties such as analytics providers, advertising networks and platforms, sports authorities and associations, search information providers, and other publicly available sources.

PURPOSES OF PROCESSING

  • We will only use your Personal Information when applicable law permits us to. We and our partners may use your Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • to register you on our Platform (where applicable);

  • to fulfil your requests for services offered and accepted by you and to contact you either through us or our third-party service providers through any channel of communication including but not limited to email, telephone, and SMS;

  • to deliver any administrative notices, alerts, advice and communications relevant to your use of the Platform;

  • to provide you certain features and services in connection with the Platform including those powered by artificial intelligence models;

  • to prevent, detect and investigate potentially prohibited or illegal activities;

  • to confirm your identity if you are exercising your legal rights;

  • to share your information with our group companies and other third parties in so far as required for joint marketing purposes, or to offer similar services, or to provide you with various value-added services;

  • to undertake market research and planning;

  • to allow you to participate in interactive features such as game play events on the Platform, providing you with relevant gameplay experience, determine and declaring winners and providing you with prizes (where applicable);

  • to improve the functionality of our Platform based on the information and feedback we receive from you;

  • to improve customer service and to effectively respond to your service requests and support needs;

  • to send periodic notifications to manage our relationship with you including to notify you of changes to our Platform;

  • to market and advertise our services to you;

  • to serve targeted advertisements to you based on your profile, interests, and usage of the Platform using our ad serving platforms and tools;

  • to respond to court orders, establish or exercise our legal rights, or defend ourselves against legal claims;

  • for fraud prevention and detection;

  • for compliance with applicable law;

  • to perform our obligations that arise out of the arrangement we may enter or have entered with you; and

  • to maintain the security and sanctity of the Platform and to prevent disruption of Platform's functionality, integrity, or availability.

DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

  • Service Providers: At times we may make your Personal Information available to our service providers (such as but not limited to: marketing, analytics, research, communication, advertisements, infrastructure and IT services, technology or software providers, payment processing and other service providers) that work with us or assist us to provide services to you or licence us software which we include in our Platform. Personal Information will only be shared with our service providers to provide services or improve the Platform and to enable us to analyse our marketing efforts. We do not authorise our service providers to use or disclose your Personal Information except in connection with providing their services. We or our service providers may also share your advertisement identifiers with advertising exchanges, and marketing analytics and other digital advertising and marketing service providers. The advertisement identifiers are used by these exchanges and service providers to decide which advertisement you see both on our Platform and on third-party sites and applications.

  • Legal: We may share Personal Information where we are required by law, any court, government agency, or authority to disclose such data. Such disclosures are made in good faith and belief that it is reasonably necessary to do so for enforcing this Notice or the Terms, or in order to comply with any applicable laws and regulations

  • Business Transfers: In the event Jiostar merges with or is acquired by another company or in cases of re-organisation or re-structuring of the business, we and our affiliates and group companies may share your Personal Information, wholly or in part, with other business entities.

YOUR CONTROLS AND CHOICES

  • Under certain circumstances and subject to applicable laws and the Terms, you have the following rights in respect of your Personal Information:

  • the right to access your Personal Information;

  • the right to correct, update or erase your Personal Information;

  • the right to withdraw consent; and

  • the right to nominate a representative to exercise your rights in the event of your death of incapacity.

  • Please note that certain personal data that you provide or that we collect may be essential for the Platform to function and to deliver services to you. In such cases, if you withdraw your consent, we may be unable to provide you with access to the Platform or certain features of the Platform may not perform as expected.

  • If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please write an email to us in the manner specified in Section 12 of this Notice.

DATA RETENTION

  • You agree and acknowledge that your Personal Information will continue to be stored and retained by us for a minimum period of 1 (one) year from the date of collection or as long as necessary to fulfil our stated purpose(s) in compliance with applicable laws or to meet statutory limitation periods.

  • To determine the appropriate retention period for Personal Information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the Personal Information, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your Personal Information, the purposes for which we process your Personal Information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

  • Upon completion of the retention period for each category of Personal Information as described above, we shall delete or destroy, to the extent technically possible, Personal Information in our possession or control, or render the Personal Information into anonymised form, so that it no longer constitutes Personal Information, in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

DATA TRANSFER, STORAGE & PROCESSING GLOBALLY

We comply with applicable laws in respect of storage and transfer of Personal Information. We operate globally and may transfer your Personal Information to Jiostar affiliated companies or group companies or service providers or third-party recipients, in locations around the world for the purposes described in this Notice. Wherever your Personal Information is transferred, stored or processed by us or our affiliates or our group companies or service providers, we will take reasonable steps to safeguard the privacy of your Personal Information.

SECURITY

  • We implement adequate security measures to protect your Personal Information from unauthorised access, and such security measures are in compliance with the security practices and procedures prescribed under applicable laws.

  • Some of the safeguards we use to protect your information are firewalls and data encryption, and information access controls. These measures are designed to provide a level of security appropriate to the risks of processing your Personal Information.

  • The Platform uses commercially reasonable security practices and procedures designed to help keep your Personal Information safe and secure. Unfortunately, the transmission of information over the Internet is not completely secure. Although we strive to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee the security of your data while it is being transmitted to our Platform. Any transmission is at your own risk. We will also ensure, on a commercially reasonable efforts basis, that any agent or third party that we employ complies with the same security standards as we do for the protection of your Personal Information.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

We do not knowingly permit any person who is under 18 (eighteen) years of age to register or to provide any other Personal Information on the Platform. Please do not register with us if you are below 18 (eighteen) years of age. Should we become aware that any Personal Information of persons less than 18 (eighteen) years of age has been collected on the Platform, we reserve the right to take appropriate steps to delete such information.

If you require any information or clarification regarding the use of your Personal Information or this Notice or if you require any general information or clarification or inquiry regarding the Platform please email us at hello@cricinfo.com. We may require you to submit certain additional information such as your name or other identifier, to identify you as a user of the Platform.

We will make all reasonable efforts to address any concerns you may have regarding our handling of your Personal Information within 90 (Ninety) days of receipt of your grievance / complaint. If you remain dissatisfied with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India for further recourse.

CHANGES TO THIS NOTICE

This Notice is subject to change from time to time. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify the terms of this Notice from time to time in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws or in response to changing regulatory or operational requirements. Any changes to this Notice shall be effective immediately (unless we state otherwise). We will notify you of any changes to this Notice, where required by applicable laws.
